Father Cris Adongo and Father Aaron Wessman were ordained for Glenmary Home Missioners on May 26, 2012. The ordinations were the first celebrated by Glenmary since 1999.

Reflections on Answering the Missionary Call

Missioners, as well as other people, must be willing to live outside their comfort zones in order to respond to Jesus' missionary call. They need to listen constantly, be lifelong learners, reach out to the poor and outsiders, and be willing to give and receive love. It's in these relationships that all of us grow in the love of Christ and in our relationship with God.

Shared Challenges Spurred Priest's Ongoing Support of Home Missions

Msgr. Salvatore Mitchell founded a parish in 1954 in a rural area of Pennylvania with few Catholics. In reading about Glenmary later, he recognized the parallels between his pastorate and Glenmary's challenging ministry. "I think the work they do is tremendous," he says. The 95-year-old priest has been a faithful supporter for 41 years through donations and annuities.

Religious Congregations and Membership Study 2010

The most complete data available on U.S. religious affiliation was released on May 1, 2012, at a press conference during the annual meeting of the Associated Church Press in Chicago. The Glenmary Research Center has collected and disseminated the Catholic data as well as produced the latest Major Religious Families of the United States wall map. The 2010 study, a county-by-county enumeration of religious bodies in the United States, is the latest in a series of every-10-year studies conducted at the same time as the U.S. census.
