Father Larry Goulding Dead at 81

Father Larry Goulding, a Glenmary Home Missioner for 53 years, died Nov 12 after a long illness. He was a "blue-collar guy" from Chicago who was committed to doing whatever needed to be done to bring people closer to the Church and to Christ.

After 53 years as a Glenmarian, a weak Father Larry Goulding came back to Glenmary's home base of Cincinnati in 2011 for medical care and rest. He later felt strong enough to move to the Glenmary community residence. But who knew this 81-year-old would volunteer to take on a new ministry, in which he would continue to be a witness and inspiration? His declining health finally caused him to return to a care facility. (Editor's note: Father Larry died on Nov. 12. His obituary was posted above on Nov. 14.)
