Brother Renews Oath in Spanish
 |

Brother David Henley renewed his Glenmary Oath during a Mass of Profession at Holy Redeemer Church in Beaver Dam, Ky., on May 14, 2005. This profession ceremony was notable because: it was the first time the Glenmary Oath has been taken in Spanish and because the ceremony was held in the parish he is serving!
The Mass of Profession was celebrated by Father Bob Poandl, director of education and first vice-president of Glenmary. Father Dan Dorsey, president of Glenmary, received the signed Oath from Brother David and Brother Larry Johnson, director of the brothers formation program acted as primary witness.
The Spanish- and English-speaking members of the congregation joined with Brother David during the Mass and helped organize a buffet after Mass which featured Mexican fare. All in attendance also enjoyed the baile, or dance, which ended the day of celebration.
Brother David will complete his double degree in religious studies and Spanish at Brescia College by spending the next semester studying in Mexico. Next year he will be eligible to take his Final Oath.
