    Glenmarians and lay coworkers deeply appreciate the opportunity to make appeals every summer during weekend Masses at a number of parishes around the country. The goals are to educate parishioners about U.S. mission needs, ask them for prayers and support--and, in the process, give them the chance to answer their own missionary call.

    With three new students entering this fall, Glenmary will have a total of 12 men in formation. Vocation director Brother David Henley has a high opinion of their dedication and potential. And he sees “great hope for the future” because of the number of new men contacting the vocation team daily and the number discerning with Glenmary.

    Glenmary recently hosted three high school students at a Come & See retreat in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Visits to former Glenmary missions that are now thriving diocesan parishes helped the students understand Glenmary’s ministry. Along the way, they witnessed Glenmary’s lasting impact on these former mission areas.

Listen to the June 21 interview and hear him discuss his ministry as a home missioner and his role as pastor of the Catholic Community of Unicoi County (just recently named St. Michael the Archangel) in East Tennessee.

    The Glenmary Research Center (GRC) is an important behind-the-scenes support ministry, helping Glenmary make the best choices for new-mission sites. The two related efforts for which GRC is nationally recognized are its role in gathering and publishing data on U.S. religious affiliation, and its creation of maps and county profiles to identify the country's mission needs.
