    Glenmary Father Vic Subb said the opening prayer for this year's Veterans Day observance in Macon County, Tenn. Father Vic, pastor of the local Lafayette mission and two others, says he was very honored to have the opportunity to offer a prayer of gratitude and ask God's blessing for the county's veterans, living and dead, on behalf of the community.

    This year, when Mexican migrant workers reached Unicoi County, Tenn., farms to begin work, they were welcomed with arrival-day meals especially prepared and served by members of Glenmary's Erwin mission. In the process, parishioners also let workers know the church community was there for them if needed.
