Glenmary in the News: May 2018

The faithful service and hard work of Glenmary Home Missioners’ priests, brothers and coworkers often causes others to take note. In an effort to share that notice with Glenmary’s supporters, below are several stories relating to Glenmary that appeared in Catholic or secular publications during the month of May 2018.

May 1 – Opening the doors of Mercy

The East Tennessee Catholic followed up with Father Steve Pawelk about his Glenmary mission’s continued response to the immigration raid that separated several Grainger County families. Read more.

May 8 – Glenmary comes in first at Flying Pig

The Catholic Telegraph ran Glenmary’s article promoting the victory of Glenmary’s Flying Pig relay team. Read more. 

May 11 – Parish remembers beloved Glenmary

The Mississippi Catholic reports that St. Francis parish, a former Glenmary mission, has renamed its parish hall Brother Terry O’Rourke Hall after the Glenmary brother who faithfully served there. Brother Terry died in March 2017 but left a lasting impact. Read more.

May 16 – Fr. Aaron’s appointment official
The Diocese of Raleigh reported Father Aaron Wessman’s official appointment as pastor of Holy Spirit in Windsor and St. Joan of Arc in Plymouth, N.C. Previously Father Aaron was categorized as Administrator of both churches. Julian Crespo Moncada remains the pastoral coordinator in charge at St. Joan of Arc. More Diocese of Raleigh appointments.
