Glenmary in the News: March 2018

The faithful service and hard work of Glenmary Home Missioners’ priests, brothers and coworkers often causes others to take note. In an effort to share that notice with Glenmary’s supporters, below are several stories relating to Glenmary that appeared in Catholic or secular publications during the month of March 2018.

March 1  The eighth station of the cross from Glenmary’s Our Lady of the Field’s chapel was featured in The Catholic Telegraph, newspaper for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Read More.

March 2 — The Message online reports Glenmary seminarians Willy G. Kyagulanyi, John C. Okpara, and Erick Oseko Orandi received the ministry of Lector at St. Meinrad’s Seminary and School of Theology on Feb. 15. Read more.

March 8 –  Glenmary Father Dan Dorsey led a diocesan-wide day of reflection and prayer March 3 for the Diocese of Salt Lake City in Utah, according to Intermountain CatholicRead more.

March 21 — A cluster of parishes in northeast Iowa have developed a relationship with Glenmary’s St. John Paul II mission in Grainger Co., Tenn. That relationship was the focus of a feature in the secular Manchester Press newspaper. The newspaper has a paywall for nonsubscribers. Read more.

March 22 — A former Glenmary mission, St. Mary’s church, in Coeburn, Va. was mentioned in the Catholic Virginian newspaper. Father Tim Drake, a retired priest in the area, notes in the story that Glenmarians and Glenmary sisters were often fondly remembered. Read more.

March 30 — Holy Redeemer, a former Glenmary mission in the Diocese of Savannah, celebrated its 50th anniversary in late February, according to the Southern Cross newspaper. Glenmary served the mission from 1967 until the 1990s. Today the parish includes more than 50 families. Read more.
