Glenmary in the News: October 2017

The faithful service and hard work of Glenmary Home Missioners' priests, brothers and coworkers frequently causes others to take note. In an effort to share that notice with Glenmary's supporters, below are several stories relating to Glenmary that appeared in Catholic or secular publications during the month of October, 2017.

Oct. 1 - Glenmary made the cover of The Catholic Telegraph's October edition, which featured a special section on missions. The story included was about novices Matt Solarz and Josiah Kimani being sent off to their mission placements. Read more.

Oct. 4 - The Early County News from Blakely, Ga. included a note on Father Mike Kerin's appointment as missionary pastor of Glenmary's Holy Family church. Read more.

Oct. 5 - East Tennessee Catholic featured a lengthy article on St. Teresa of Kolkata's ground breaking in early September on their October cover. The story also discussed plans related to Glenmary's St. John Paul II and St. Michael the Archangel missions hoping to build new structures of their own. Read more.

Oct. 19 - The Erwin Record published a story about Father Tom Charters' St. Michael the Archangel mission's trip to Florida to assist in hurricane recovery. A related story will also appear in the winter edition of Glenmary Challenge. Read more.

Oct. 26 - Frank Lesko's recent blog post about Christian unity was picked up by a variety of blogs. Read the blog at its original site here.

Oct. 31 - The Chicago Tribune mentioned Glenmary in passing in a story about a young man who became Benedictine. While the article incorrectly categorized Glenmarians as monks, it said their "mysterious but spiritual life" had a positive effect on his discernment. Read more.
