Lay Mission Options

Glenmary Pastoral Coordinators

These missioners start new Catholic churches or staff existing churches. Minimum requirements: a master's degree in theology and some pastoral experience, preferably in a rural, southern setting. Glenmary Pastoral Associates

These professionally prepared men and women work with a Glenmary pastor in providing pastoral leadership and pastoral care in a Glenmary mission. Minimum requirements include: a master’s degree in theology, pastoral studies, or related field; previous parish ministry experience, preferably in a southern, rural setting; some type of adult level teaching experience. Glenmary Group Volunteer Program at the Glenmary Farm

This program gives groups a one-week opportunity to experience mission firsthand in eastern Kentucky. It is a time of service, education, prayer, reflection, and sharing. A group is comprised of 12-20 volunteers. Cost for each participant: $120 per week. Year-Long Service Opportunity
This is an opportunity for single Catholics to assist a resident Glenmary Brother/director in the supervision of high-school and college volunteer groups at the Glenmary Farm in eastern Kentucky. Persons selected provide leadership for short-term missionary immersion experiences. Glenmary sponsors this cross-cultural, retreat-like Christian service opportunity in Appalachia. Deep South Summer Camp

Men and women counselors are needed for four one-week sessions at a rural summer camp for children ages 9-14 in Mississippi. Activities include arts and crafts, music, recreation, swimming, and values classes. Cooks are also needed. Women who want to serve in Appalachia come together each summer for this week of giving and growing and learning about the culture and issues of the region.
