Spring 2018 Challenge on its way

Aside from the Gospels, there are no instruction manuals for building a Catholic mission from the ground up. One thing missionary groups like Glenmary learn quickly is that some assembly is required.

In the Spring 2018 edition of Glenmary Challenge magazine (which began mailing March 14) readers will learn about four missions in Tennessee that are well into constructing new homes for their congregations. These signs of growth show the vibrancy of the Catholic faith in an area that was underserved until Glenmary arrived on the scene.

While the cover story shows the bright future of Glenmary missions, another feature highlights the good ol’ days at the Christian Living Camp. Glenmary once ran a summer camp and both missioners and students remember it fondly – for the most part.

This issue also remembers Father Richard Kreimer, who died in December, and includes the story of Glenmary donor Theresa Weyer, who says Glenmary saved her life long ago in Sunfish, Ky.

News and notes tell of Glenmary Father John Rausch visiting the United Nations, a new building named in honor of Glenmary, how to order Easter cards, and more!

Additionally, this issue includes a minor design update created to enhance readability and give the Challenge a more modern appearance.

Glenmary Challenge has three goals: to educate Catholics about the U.S. home missions, to motivate young men to consider Glenmary priesthood or brotherhood and to invite all Catholics to respond to their baptismal call to be missionary by partnering with Glenmary as financial contributors, prayer partners, professional coworkers and/or volunteers.
