Building and Grounds Worker

Glenmary seeks a Building and Grounds Worker with the following responsibilities related to this position:

Maintain/upkeep of all buildings and grounds in a clean, safe and approved manner. Perform daily duties and repairs such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, floor care and grounds maintenance. Performing routine preventative maintenance on facilities and related equipment. Walk the grounds daily to ensure exterior maintenance. Mow lawn, trim & prune landscaping, and remove litter and snow from grounds as necessary. Ensuring that installation and/or maintenance work performed by self or outside contractors are in accordance with appropriate codes and/or regulations. Recommending and maintaining needed maintenance equipment. Responsibility for the coordination of all safety related programs. Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Works with delivery personnel to receive and store shipments delivered to Glenmary.

Candidate selected for this position will need to be a high school graduate (or equivalent), have three to five years of related experience and a valid driver’s license.

Long-term Volunteers sought

Glenmary Home Missioners is seeking five individuals to serve as long-term volunteers, aka Mountain Managers, at the Glenmary Group Volunteer program site on Joppa Mountain in Grainger County, Tenn.

Mountain Managers live on site and serve terms from three to 24 months with negotiable starting dates and breaks for Christmas and summer. Duties include: overall supervision and leadership of volunteer groups; Planning and coordination with local directors of programs for weekly activities; Renovation and rehab projects for those in need in Union and Grainger counties; Meal planning, preparation, clean-up for groups of 12-35; Purchasing food and household supplies; Sale and inventory control of program memorabilia; General maintenance and upkeep of volunteer facility; Manual labor at building/renovation sites; Nursing home visitation; Community outreach; Environmental protection and landscaping.
