Sampling
of Maps
There
are 24 four-color maps bound into Religious Congregations
& Membership in the United States:2000. Plus,
a 25" x 53" fold-out map of major religious
families in the United States is included. Nineteen
of these maps are congregation-specific; e.g. the Catholic,
Jewish and Muslim maps posted here.
Five
of the maps in the book take a larger view; those are
posted here.

Participating Religious Groups: Groups
With the Largest Number of Adherents. Largest
groups include: Catholic Church, Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints, Evangelical Lutheran Chruch
in America, Southern Baprist Convention and United
Methodist Church. The Other category includes
39 groups with less than 50 counties each. Three of
these had more than 10 counties where each was the
largest group: Christian Churches and Churches of
Christ (42 counties), American Baptist Churches in
the USA (29 counties), and Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod (24 counties).
- Largest
Participating Protestant Religious Groups: Protestant
Groups with the Largest Number of Adherents.
Largest groups include American Baptist Churches in
the USA, Assemblies of God, Christian Churches and
Churches of Christ, Episcopal Church, Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America, Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod, Presbyterian Church USA, Southern Baptist Convention,
United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church.
The Other category includes 44 groups
with less than 30 counties each. Two of these had
more than 10 counties where each was the largest group:
Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (16 counties)
and Church of the Nazarene (11 counties).
