Opening Set for Boys and Girls Club
Thanks to Farm volunteers, like Joshua Xavier from Bishop Hendricken in Warwick, R.I., the Boys and Girls Club will open on Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 17, in 2005. Farm groups who sanded and, painted and fixed walls made the club a reality for kids in Lewis County. Joe Gosek is a member of the Board.

New Farm Mangers
A convert to the Catholic faith from New Castle, Penn., Ed Koch is passionate about his faith and social justice issues. Valerie McDaniel, a native of Bay City, Mich., graduated from Loyola University of Chicago in April with a degree in music and minors in biology and women's studies. She came to the Farm in March 2002 and found the experience so moving that she wants to provide the same for future volunteers.

New Farm Dog
There's a new dog at the Farm: Mr. Beaglesworth. Volunteer director Joe Grosek assures everyone that Mr. Beaglesworth is fitting in just fine at the Farm although, unlike other Farm dogs, he's not stupid. "He's really pretty smart," Joe says.

February 2004
God's hands
Students from Assumption High School
visited
the Farm the week of February 15. Although this school in Louisville, Ky.,
traditionally offers service opportunities, this was the first trip to the Farm.
While several girls were working at the Something Else Shop, they came
across
materials they could use to make the banner pictured here-and
each
added a handprint.

January 2004
A snowy January
After three inches of snow fell in Lewis County, students from McNicholas High School, Cincinnati, cleared the parking lot
at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Glenmary mission in Vanceburg.
Inclement weather limited volunteer projects for the month. For more about what is happening in Vanceburg.
