Christmas Is Coming! The past few weeks
have
been devoted to preparing for Project Merry
Christmas.
Since Sister Jo Fillenwarth is no longer at Holy
Redeemer, I
have taken on her responsibilities for lining up
gifts and
volunteers. And, so far, things look good for this
year's
distribution which is set for Dec. 19. Check the Farm
homepage in January for the full story and
photos. You
can also read a reflection from
current
Farm manager Jill Collet about this busy pre-Christmas
season at the Farm. And I know Christmas is almost
here,
but there is still time to tune into Advent if you
haven't
already done so. Check out the Advent resource being
distributed
by the Glenmary Commission on Justice for a creative
way to
observe this season of waiting.

Glenmary Calls Farm Volunteers "Partners in Mission"
The Winter 2006 issue of Glenmary Challenge features a story that highlights the contributions made by Farm volunteers to Glenmary's mission in Lewis County, Ky. It highlights two schools with very long histories of continuous service at the Farm: Marquette High School and Gannon University. Check out the Farm photo album to see all the groups that have served recently.

Update From a Former Farm Manager
Dan Burke, a Farm manager in 1984-85, has written an essay about how the Farm continues to be a part of his life as a father and a lawyer in Cincinnati. We would love to hear from other Farm alums about how the Farm continues to live on in their hearts and daily lives. Write farm@glenmary.org.

Extreme Poverty Tour of Appalachia
In December 2005 Father John Rausch, a frequent visitor to the Farm, led a tour of Appalachia for the U.N. Independent Expert on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty. It opened his eyes to see poverty-and environmental degradation-in a new way from the stance of human rights. Read his report.
