Jehovah's Witnesses AnsweredVerse by Verse. By David A.
Reed. Grand Rapids, Mich.: Baker Books, 1986.
If
you have already made an attempt, then you realize how difficult
it is to talk to Jehovahs Witnesses. They will try your patience,
test your Bible knowledge and strain your endurance. Keeping track
of the point under discussion with them can be difficult, but the
effort is worth it because they need to hear the gospel from you (page 9).
David Reeds mission is to help Christians
answer and understand what Jehovahs Witnesses (JWs)
are about. He explains the motivations and ideology behind why they
are so driven to knock on doors. He challenges us to
become missionaries to them because of the distorted Good
News that they know.
As a former JW elder, Reed explains the most
frequently used biblical texts. These texts are used as pretexts
which set the stage for JW doctrines. Each text is considered
from several angles.
Other chapters contain explanations of JWs
beliefs, terminology, the evolution of their Bible, a historical
timeline and conversational evangelization techniques. He concludes
with personal testimony of his and his familys experiences
as Jehovah Witnesses and their struggles since leaving.
