"I have been very fortunate in Swainsboro and Metter to have, for the most part, parishioners who not only say 'welcome' but who contribute in a concerned and loving way to the needs of those who sojourn among us. I neither take the 'Catholicity' of the Hispanic immigrant or the goodness that I have experienced from my American-born parisioners for granted. Hopefully we can look beyond the secular politics of immigration and recognize the gift that the Hispanic immigrant is to the American Catholic Church."
