Glenmary Donors Attend Annual President's Gathering
 |
| PRESIDENTIAL THANK YOU: Larry and Elsie West, donors from Glenmary’s former mission in Fayetteville, Tenn., receive a thank you from Father Dan Dorsey during the President’s Gathering luncheon. Elsie, a convert, spoke at last year’s event about Glenmary’s role in her life. |
On Oct. 13 Glenmary donors came to Glenmary headquarters in Cincinnati from across the country to attend the President’s Gathering. The day–long event included a presentation by Glenmary’s newest member, Brother David Henley, Mass celebrated by Glenmary president Father Dan Dorsey and lunch at the Glenmary residence.
In all, 25 of the 224 Mission Benefactors and Mission Supporters—donors who have given over $1,000 to Glenmary in the past fiscal year—attended the gathering.
Father Dan thanked those gathered for their commitment to Glenmary’s mission and for their generosity.
“Without you—without the generosity and prayers of all Glenmary donors—our work in the home missions wouldn’t be possible,” he said. “On behalf of all those we serve, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
As a special thank you, those attending the October event received a small gift created by Eastern Kentucky artist Charley Campbell. Each year, the gift given is from one of Glenmary’s home mission counties.
Charley, who lives in Glenmary’s Lewis County, Ky., mission, created plaques featuring birds native to Eastern Kentucky. The colorful images were painted on pieces of slate.
Plans are already underway for next year’s event.
