New Ads in Spanish and English Carry Vocation Message
Glenmary continues to be blessed with new applicants and with men continuing in formation.

| VOCATION ADS: The new Spanish ad proclaims, “With hands lifted up, I will call on your name.” The English ad juxtaposes Masses in a Kentucky tobacco barn and a migrant camp in Arkansas. |
Two new ads have been submitted this spring to national vocation publications: one in Spanish to ¡Oye!, a discernment guide for young Hispanic Catholics published by Claretian Publications; one in English to Vision, the annual publication of the National Religious Vocation Conference. These publications are made available to vocation offices, campus ministries and every U.S. parish.
As these ads are readied for press, Glenmary is reaping the fruits of the year-round efforts of its vocation team to promote Glenmary and to invite men to seriously consider missionary priesthood or brotherhood.
Over the past year the office has been in serious dialogue with about 80 men. And, says vocation director Father Steve Pawelk, an increasing number are younger (between 20 and 30) and from the United States. As this issue goes to press, eight men have applied for entry into the prenovitiate program—and more are expected, says Father Steve.
Of the seven men currently in the prenovitiate in Hartford, Ky., all are continuing in Glenmary formation. “This is a wonderful blessing for Glenmary,” says president Father Dan Dorsey. He, along with other Executive Council members, recently met with each man individually.
Two men (Tim Agera and Benard Nyamulo) will continue as prenovices in a mission placement until June 2007. Five will enter the novitiate in Maple Mount, Ky., in July: Crispine Adongo, Craig Digmann, Daniel Gikuma, Chris Gutierrez and Aaron Wessman.
Glenmary anticipates that two novices, Austine Duru and Dennis Makokha, will make their First Oath on June 30. With First Oath one becomes a professed member of the Glenmary community.
Brother David Henley, under temporary Oath for the past three years, will make his final profession in August at the Glenmary Congress.
