Sister Janet Fischer, pastoral associate of St. Christopher mission in Claxton, Ga., will celebrate 50 years of religious life in June. Father Steve Pawelk will celebrate the jubilee Mass. Sister Janet is a member of the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration.

The members of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, a former Glenmary mission in Sylvania, Ga., are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their parish. Organizers are inviting all Glenmarians who served the parish and the community back to Sylvania for the Mass and reception. “We owe so much to them,” says longtime parishioner Patti Boddiford.

Father Bruce Brylinski has been assigned to assist with sacramental ministry at St. Jude mission in Waldron, Ark. He is also involved in art and puppet ministry. His assignment began Feb. 13.

Brother Tom Sheehy has been assigned to outreach ministry in Man, W.Va., in conjunction with Glenmary’s mission there. His assignment began in May.

Father Jim Kelly, 92, who lives at Glenmary Headquarters in Cincinnati, led a parish mission at Old St. Mary’s Church in Cincinnati in preparation for the parish’s feast day, the Annunciation. During the March 22-25 mission, he gave a total of 10 talks.

St. Meinrad School of Theology, where Glenmary seminarians Crispine Adongo and Aaron Wessman are students, has received an “overwhelmingly” positive report from the Congregation for Catholic Education following a June 2008 review.

Deacon Bob Laremore, the pastoral coordinator of Resurrection Chapel in Moulton, Ala., is retiring. The mission will be returned to the pastoral care of the Diocese of Birmingham on July 1.
