Father Bishop Legacy Society Members Gather
Planned givers commitment to ensuring the future of home mission ministry celebrated
 |
| Dorothy Hare (seated), mother of Glenmary Father Bob Hare and a member of the Father Bishop Legacy Society, visits with Anne Leonard, Martha Feie and LaVerne Strittholt during the June Father Bishop Legacy Society gathering. All four are from Cincinnati and took advantage of the donor gathering to renew old friendships. |
[Ohio] “As missioners, we’re taught the love of Jesus is not just for a select few,” Father Dan Dorsey, president of Glenmary, told donors gathered for the June 13 Father Bishop Legacy Society Mass and luncheon.
“We’re called to mission everyone and share the joy of Christ’s love,” he said. “My fellow missioners, you are all part of that mission—our mission—and without your prayerful and financial support, we could not spread that love.”
Over 40 people attended the Mass and luncheon held at the Glenmary chapel and residence in Cincinnati.
The Father Bishop Legacy Society, established in 2003, honors Glenmary’s founder, Father William Howard Bishop. To date, there are over 650 members who have made planned gifts or bequest commitments to Glenmary.
“We’re told in today’s gospel (John 15:9-17) to ‘love one another as I love you,’” Father Dan continued in his homily. “As believers, we all embody and enflesh that love. Sharing that love is a great challenge but it’s also a wonderful call.
“On behalf of all those we serve, thank you for helping us continue sharing that love in the home missions.”
“Everyone enjoyed the day,” says planned giving officer Susan Lambert. “This event is a way to let our planned givers know how much they mean to us.
“Those who make planned gifts are investing in Glenmary and are helping ensure Glenmary’s future home mission ministry efforts.”
