In Heavener the Word Is Out: 'We're Here!'

Father Neil Pezzulo recently spoke with a group of donors about the new missions he is pastoring in Waldron and Danville, Ark., and Heavener, Okla. He told the group that the people in Heavener, a once dying frontier town and now mecca for Mexican migrants, are just surviving. Billy and Maria Butts provide the pastoral presence in the town where the local church is struggling, but getting stronger by the day. For more information.

Glenmary Challenge Wins Catholic Press Awards
Father Bob Dalton and Father John Rausch received second and third place awards, respectively, from the Catholic Press Association at the organization's annual convention in Washington, D.C., May 28. Study Tour to Home Missions Planned for October
Glenmary Home Missioners, in cooperation with The Catholic Church Extension Society, is sponsoring a five-day immersion/study tour to the home missions in Eastern Kentucky and Southwestern Virginia. After serving in Glenmary administration and leadership for 13 years, Father Jerry Dorn has returned to the mission fields as a fulltime resident. He became pastor of a Glenmary mission in Eastern Kentucky in January. To read more about his first months back in the missions...

Father John Marquardt Dead at 84
Father John J. Marquardt said once that he always wanted to be a priest, "I was born with that on my mind." For 57 years, he served the home missions as a missionary priest, pastor, teacher and seminary rector. Father Marquardt died April 18 in Cincinnati.For more...

Father Tom Field Dead at 64
Father Tom Field once received a death threat from the Klu Klux Klan because he was reaching out to help a victim of domestic violence. This "wonderfully effective missioner" ministered to all God's needy in his 29 years as a Glenmary missioner. Father Tom died Feb. 27 in Cincinnati. For more...

Collaboration Key in Mississippi Ministry
Father Tim Murphy pastors three Glenmary missions in northeastern Mississippi, but he doesn't do it alone. He works with pastoral associates and a pastoral coordinator. His collaborative Glenmary ministry offers a model of ministry to the U. S. Church: priest-pastors teaming with pastoral associates and pastoral coordinators to preseve local Church communities.
