Glenmary Farm Rededicated for Service to Appalachia

Sixty people gathered in Vanceburg, Ky., Nov. 18 to bless the new and restored buildings that have arisen from the devastation of the February 2000 flood.

New Advent Service Available on Web

Glenmary's Department of Pastoral Services (DPS) wants to share its new Advent Penitential Service 2000
for Glenmary missions with any group that wants to gather in prayer this Advent season.

Lay Leaders Welcomed to Glenmary Family

Sister Kate Regan and Christine Ramirez have headed to Ripley, Miss., and Clintwood, Va., respectively, as Glenmary newest lay pastoral coordinators. Both agree their lives’ direction has been plotted by the Lord and are grateful that direction led them to Glenmary.

Bob Nicodemus and Kevin HutherBob Nicodemus, of Detroit, Mich., and Kevin Huther of Cincinnati, Ohio, arrived in Hartford, Ky., on Aug. 17, to begin their Candidacy yeara discernment year when they "try Glenmary on for size."

Lay Pastoral Coordinators Gene and Mary Helen GrabbeOnce Catholics in Choctaw County in northeastern Mississippi had to drive 30 miles, one way, to Mass. Now they gather in the county seat and, with Lay Pastoral Coordinators Gene and Mary Helen Grabbe, make up the only integrated congregation in the county.

Glenmary Turns Back Last Ohio Missions

June marked the end of a Glenmary presence in Southern Ohio. After almost 60 years of mission work in the region, the remaining two missions under Glenmary's care were turned back to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Center Named for Father Robert Berson
Father Robert Berson’s past leadership in Glenmary was recognized on Dec. 10, 1999 with the dedication of the Robert C. Berson Center in Nashville, Tenn. The center houses many Glenmary ministries including the Department of Pastoral Services and the Glenmary Research Center.

Glenmary Kicks Off Vocation Campaign

Slides such as this one are being shown prior to all films at two Cincinnati cinemas throughout January in an attempt to invite young men to consider a vocation to Glenmary priesthood or brotherhood. Radio spots and newspapers ad are also part of the innovative campaign.
