Becomes Reality in Bruce, Miss.
Bishop
William Houck of the Diocese of Jackson, Miss., blessed a
new Catholic church in Bruce, Miss., on Oct. 24. Just five
short years ago, Glenmary lay pastoral coordinator Amy Giorgio
arrived to found a Catholic community. Today, that community's
dream of having a permanent church building has become a reality.

Circle Turns Out in Record Numbers
Twenty-six members traveled to Cincinnati from
as far away as New York, Montana, Missouri and Upper Michigan
to attend the Oct. 15 gathering of the President's Circle
at Glenmary headquarters.

Priest Ordained
Father
Neil Pezzulo (center), a native of upstate New York, was ordained
a Glenmary priest at a Sept. 24 liturgy in Cincinnati.
He will head to Arkansas for his first mission assignment.

Gilchrist's appointment as the new associate director of Glenmary's
Lay Pastoral Coordinator Program is one sign of Glenmary's
growing commitment to share ministry with the laity.
Another sign: the August commissioning of five new lay pastoral
coordinators.

Charts Home Mission Challenge for U.S. Church. New Maps
to Highlight Shifting Populations in Rural America
As
the U.S. Census Bureau gears up for the 2000 Census, the Glenmary
Research Center is preparing to use that data, as well as
data from a new church membership study, to chart anew the
home mission challenge for the U.S. Catholic Church.

New Leaders, Setting Future Directions
Newly
elected leaders Father Jerry Dorn (president), Father Dan
Dorsey (first vice president) and Brother Jack Henn (second
vice president) are already at work implementing the work
of the 12th Glenmary General Chapter.
