Glenmary Father John Brown Arrives in Georgia
Assumes pastorate of Swainsboro, Metter missions

CINCINNATI—Father John Brown will assume the pastorate of Glenmary’s Holy Trinity (Swainsboro) and Holy Family (Metter) missions on July 15. He has served as pastor of Glenmary’s Idabel, Okla., mission since 1994. A native of Boston, Mass., Father John has also served as pastor of the Glenmary missions in Elkton and Guthrie, Ky.

Glenmary is a society of Catholic priests and brothers who, along with coworkers, establish the Catholic Church in rural regions of the United States. Currently, Glenmary staffs over 50 missions and ministries in 14 dioceses.

Father John entered Glenmary in 1977 and professed his First Oath in 1978. He was ordained in 1984.

Glenmary has served this area of South Georgia since 1958. Father Vic Subb has spent the past five years as pastor of these two faith communities and will now minister in the Glenmary vocation office heading up the candidacy program for men interested in priesthood or brotherhood.
